Schedule

Please show up at 5 p.m. (PDX: 2 p.m.) to sign in. Play will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. (PDX: 2:30 p.m.) Players not present at the scheduled start of their game may be forced to forfeit that game. If you know you will be late, please contact your charter commissioner ahead of time and arrangements likely can be made to accommodate your situation.

Rules

Each game will be played according to standard Spades rules, to 500 points.

Players may choose their partners before the first round of games. Players who have not chosen a partner will be randomly assigned a teammate. In case of an odd number of players, the local commissioner will play so that all players will have a partner. Teams will remain the same for the entire event.

Tournament format

Updated 2/27: Part one of the event will be a three-hour round robin tournament. The league expects three or four games to be completed during this phase. Following the round robin portion, the top four players will participate in a seeded single-elimination tournament to determine the top 4 rankings and medal winners.

Rankings will be determined by number of wins with cumulative points as the tie breaker. So if two teams each have three wins, but Team A has earned 1,500 points in all games and Team B has earned 1,600 points in all game, Team B will be ranked higher.

Both players on each team will receive the full number of points based on their ranking. For example, both members of the first place team will receive 100 points and both will get gold medals.
